Product Care
We advise that all solid wooden surfaces (Solid Ashwood, Oak, etc) to be treated with a generous amount of Monocoat Refresh Eco spray every 6 – 8 weeks in order to maintain the richness and texture of the natural wood.
We also encourage you to clean regularly by removing dust and debris to prevent buildup that can accelerate wear and tear. It is best for your wooden products to stay out of direct sunlight as much as possible, to prevent direct harsh heat (that could cause small cracks) and UV-rays that could cause wood’s lignin (this polymer gives wood its strength and structure) to break down, thus causing a gradual colour change (this result is usually a silver-grey patina). Rain/any liquid that remains on the wooden top can also stain or filter out natural pigments which can lead to staining and fading in certain areas if exposed to water on a regular basis.
Cleaning care for all Monn Carpets only:
The flat weave construction makes light work of keeping your rug clean. A light shake outdoors will dislodge most soil and dust. For the effective removal of more stubborn stains, use only water or alternatively, water mixed with a suitable mild cleaning agent.
Note of consideration
The tops for the tables, servers, etc are made of Solid Oak, Ashwood and/or Supawood (in some cases) which are then coated with a Monocoat product or stain. The bases of the tables, servers, pedestals, etc are made of American poplar and/or Rubberwood.
The legs are made from Pine wood or Meranti as this is a very durable wood and easy to turn when manufacturing new furniture. Doors & the “boxes” of the units are made from MDF (medium density fibre board) which is a man–made product basically made from crushed eucalyptus and resin – This product is easier to carve and gives a nice smooth finish once painted.
NB: No two items of furniture are the same, each piece of wood varies, in grain and colour together with other imperfections. Wood is a natural/living product
The timber reacts differently, to the techniques applied to achieve the “French look”.
As a result of this every piece of furniture will look different.
Please be advised that due to the dry conditions in Johannesburg, RSA, regular wood treatment for your wooden surfaces is required (once a week) in order to prevent bending or lifting of the wood. If the above mentioned damage occurs House Of Mangar Interiors and Furniture will not be held liable.
NB: Curtains & blinds subject to final measurements on site.
Fireplace surrounds are made with a combination of MDF and Nu-Tech fireproof materials where applicable.
Wallpapering
House of Mangar Interiors and Furniture will not accept any responsibility for applied wallpaper not sticking and/or pulling away from the surface due to problems arising from: Bad plastering, poor brick-work, poorly applied rhinolighting, water seepage, incorrect paint use and/or damp walls (not always visible to the naked eye at the time of quoting). House of Mangar Interiors and Furniture also will not take responsibility of any built-up/prep work or painting that has been done before wallpaper application. We are applying our product to a surface that has been prepped by the client. Wallpaper cannot be applied to walls painted with oil based or a high gloss paint as the glue will not grip. For best results match the base colour of the wallpaper to the base colour of the water-based wall paint (light on light/ dark on dark). For best results all walls must be primed with solvent based Universal undercoat once the rhinolighting has been given sufficient time to dry. Rhinolite shoulde be fully cured and dry before being sealed and primed for wallpaper.
Cleaning
We recommend that all fabric items are dry-cleaned or professionally steam cleaned so as to retain shape and to ensure no shrinkage.

For recovering quotes, we quote as accurately as possible from pictures however fabric/labour charges are subject to final inspection
Wooden Furniture Warranty
Timber products carry a 1 year warranty from date of invoice in respect of carcasses and workmanship. Wood movement will occur from time to time as wood is always alive and never stops living, therefore all solid wooden tops may move depending from season to season and province to province. Climate (temperature and humidity) also has an effect on natural wooden products, that could result in the wood expanding or contracting according to the weather it is exposed to. This may result in small cracks or movements in the joints We recommend a Monocoat Refresh Eco spray to be used at once a month in order to help nourish the wood and helps the wood not to dry out. There may be a colour contrast of the panels due to the ever-changing weather and the section of the tree the panel was cut from. The colour contrast will only be apparent after the stain has been applied. As wood needs to breathe, the tops cannot have anything preventing air flow (glass, thick plastic/fabric, etc) as this can cause damage to the wooden tops.
NB: If a unit is moved after delivery from one area to another, hairline cracks can develop due to the nature of the wood and the different conditions of the new area/room (sun/humidity, etc).
Timber Staining/Colouring (Indoors/Undercover patio)
For indoor use we recommend the Monocoat Oil for all unpainted solid and veneered wooden tops. The Monocoat Oil is ideal for both residential and high-traffic areas. It is also very scratch and wear-resistant. Colour may vary depending on the following: wood type, first-time application on virgin wood vs reapplication on wood that has been stained previously, where the tree was cut and how close to the centre the panel was cut. This product is applied with a sponge.
For outdoor/ undercover patio use we recommend the Monocoat DuroGrit product for all unpainted solid and veneered wooden tops. This product is wood fibre fortified that provides the perfect saturating and breathable Monocoat system, allowing the wood to breathe efficiently, therefore reducing swelling and shrinkage. It has long lasting UV protection and is extremely durable and wear resistant. It will also not crack, peel or flake off. It is also water and dirt repellent. This product is applied with a paint brush.
NB: All furniture and accessories remains the property of House Of Mangar (Pty) Ltd and will not be delivered until paid in full.
